A total of 21 senior college students, youth leaders and community organizers joined the Training Workshop for EPCALM Volunteers conducted on 22 July 2023 at The EPCALM House in New Manila, Quezon City to equip them with appropriate knowledge, skills, and attitudes on effective volunteerism, especially for the various EPCALM programs and services.

He added that their engagement with the serviced patients and their families will contribute to their personal growth and development.
The main Facilitator of the training workshop was Emma Magsino, Outreach Program Director. Also in attendance were Mitch Duran, Executive Director; and Maria Cristina Dela Cruz, Advocacy and Public Awareness Program Co-Director. The subject matters covered during the interactive training workshop included the following: Background and History of EPCALM, EPCALM’s Three Arms of Service, EPCALM Programs and Services, Frequently Asked Questions about Leukemia, How Volunteerism Can Change Your Life, Qualities of a Good Volunteer, the EPCALM Visitation Ministry, and Standards of Care.

Levantino, said that the activity underscored that the volunteerism effectively makes invaluable contributions in delivering timely, personalized and family-oriented programs and services to the adult leukemia patients, as well as their families.
In closing, EPCALM Founder and Board Chair, Dr. Erlyn C. Demerre, thanked the participants for their commitment to reach out to the serviced patients, as she also shared the story of the “seed” that inspired the founding of EPCALM in 2005.
