Updated: May 30

The EPCALM Adult Leukemia Foundation of the Philippines marked its 19th Founding Anniversary with a “Dinner and Dance Celebration” last Sunday, 26 May 2024 at Pardon My French Manila in Makati City. It was a fitting commemorative fundraising event, proceeds of which all went to its programs and services to provide assistance and allied services to adult leukemia patients and their families nationwide.

Since 2005, the EPCALM Foundation has responded to the increasing number of adult leukemia patients and addressed their various requirements, including the provision of spiritual care, guided medical options, resource development, and psycho-social intervention, among others.

The event also formally acknowledged the new EPCALM Honorary Board of Trustees members, chaired by Dr. Lorenzo Ku. The Honorary Board comprises community and industry leaders who were handpicked for their knowledge and expertise in corporate governance, and their genuine heart for service to the underprivileged and disadvantaged sectors.

Justice Demerre to the new Honorary Board Members:  Mr. Wellington Soong; Mr. Alvin Uy; Ms. Pinky Antonio; Ms. Jonalyn Lim; Ms. Nikki Tang; and Ms Tessa Prieto. The other new members of the EPCALM Honorary Board include Ms. Zenaida Dizon Balajadia; Ms. Ruby Chua; Ms. Linda Ley; and Mr. Prudencio Garcia.  The new Honorary Board members complement the existing Honorary Board members, namely: Dr. Lorenzo Ku, Chairman; Mr. Boy Abunda; Mr. Martin Nievera; Mayor Joy Belmonte; Ms. Anita Victoria Ramos-Antonino; Dr. Priscilla Caguioa; Mayor Felipe Remollo; Former Congressman Ronaldo Zamora, Dr. Allan Racho; Ms. Juanita Amatong; Mr. Arthur Chua; Dr. Oliver Cabanag; Ms. Evelyn Tubo; Ms. June Concepcion; and Ms. Cynthia Cabanag,

A video greeting from Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, also an Honorary Board Member, was shown during the Program. In her message, Mayor Belmonte committed to “work more closely with EPCALM, continue to innovate, and expand the QC LGU programs dedicated to the health and wellness of every individual in the city.”

Model and actress, Angel Aquino, represented EPCALM’s celebrity Advocates. They were also honored for being the Foundation’s “messengers of peace and hope” through the years.

The night was highlighted by 80’s and 90’s dance party music played by Pardon My French – The Plug house band. Manila Genesis rising artists Benj Pangilinan and Kai Buizon, as well as seasoned performer, Carla Martinez, also provided musical numbers.
