She has faced adversities, and continues to battle challenges as they come, with firm determination and unwavering faith that in the end, all will be well. Overcoming obstacles that seem unending have not fazed her. They have even made her stronger. And braver.
Rachelle Anne C. Escoto, 35—a woman whose spirit shines through with resilience and hope—is fighting an “unseen, silent” foe, after her doctors at St. Ferdinand Medical Center in San Fernando, Pampanga gave their grim diagnosis: chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), in July 2011.
Rachelle Ann wears the full-battle armor of her family’s love, and trust in God in her daily arduous life-journey. Mounting medical bills and her physical condition notwithstanding, she still manages to keep their house in order – for her loving husband, Ricardo, and her young children—Jimuel, Luisa, Alexa, and Samuel. Armed with their unconditional love and full support, she marches onward, hopeful that one day, she will be healed and fully recovered.
As if her woes were not daunting enough, Rachelle Anne suffered a miscarriage just last month. The family was heartbroken. After processing this turn of events in their life, they resolved to move forward, thankful even that God must have protected them against all possible harm.
Amid the onslaught of challenging circumstances, Rachelle Anne found solace and comfort through her utmost faith in God, which has been a source of spiritual and emotional nourishment to her and their entire family. This reflects her deep-seated belief in the power of faith, through fervent prayers, to guide and sustain them through difficult times.
Through EPCALM Foundation, and the help of other organizations, she looks forward to not only gain better access to medicines, but also a deeper understanding of CML, which she will need in her leukemia journey. Her story is one of profound courage and the unbreakable, powerful bond of family, embodying a spirit that inspires those around her.
Rachelle Anne exemplifies the power of resilience, and the beauty of the human spirit. EPCALM bears witness to her remarkable journey, a testament to the strength of a woman who blooms with hope despite the trials of life. (By Sr. Minerva F. Jumawid)
