My good friend and brilliant, compassionate cardiologist Dr. Erlyn Demerre shared with me the good news that the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) has recently partnered with the EPCALM Adult Leukemia Foundation of the Philippines for a worthy and noble advocacy — raising awareness on adult leukemia in the Philippines.
Dr. Demerre is the founder and chairman of the board of EPCALM (Erwin Piedad Cabanag Adult Leukemia Ministries), a God-centered, non-stock and non-profit organization that supports leukemia patients and their families. EPCALM was established in memory of her brother, lawyer Erwin Cabanag, the city fiscal of Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental who passed away due to leukemia on May 12, 2005.
The four-day auto show was held at the World Trade Center with an interesting display of two orange sports cars: the Jaguar F-Type and Lexus RC F. The orange sports cars were strategically positioned at the entrance of the 2015 MIAS showroom area. But what is so special about the color orange? “It is the globally designated advocacy color for leukemia,” Dr. Demerre shared.
