EPCALM Foundation has partnered with Shiseido Philippines, through its “Lavender Ring: Makeup and Photos with Smiles” campaign to leverage the power of makeup to encourage the social reintegration of cancer patients and survivors.
The initiative, established by Shiseido Japan in 2017, involves local governments, private corporations, patient groups, and medical institutions, and uses lavender to represent all cancer types. The ring symbolizes the networks of people who understand cancer and support cancer survivors coming together.
The campaign debuts in the Philippines this year, to commemorate World Cancer Day. It also covers China, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand for Shiseido’s 150th anniversary. Aside from EPCALM Foundation, other partner NGOs are: I Want to Share Foundation, KAYA Community, and Kasuso Foundation.
Cancer survivors from the NGO partners recently participated in personalized makeup and hairstyling sessions by the Shiseido Creative Team and Filipino celebrity makeup artists. Three leukemia survivors from EPCALM joined the photoshoot – Dr. Ella Cabanlet, Jolie Ann Festejo, and Mia May Delos Santos. The photos will be on display at lavender-ring.com/en.
Justice Z. Demerre, EPCALM President and CEO of EPCALM said: “This project is aligned with our public advocacy of giving hope to adult leukemia patients and their families, as we endeavor to provide them with personalized, practical, and family-oriented support programs and services in every step of their leukemia journey.”
For his part, Michael Goh, Managing Director of Shiseido Philippines, said: “This is a project that truly embodies the global brand’s commitment to empowering individuals to be the best versions of themselves through the power of beauty.”
